Originating from Barcelona, but currently living in Stockholm, Marta Leyva uses her art as a way to connect with her culture. "Being away from home makes me appreciate my roots even more and it is a way for me to feel closer to them."
Leyva worked as a translator, but after joining her friend for a painting class, she realised she loved it. So much so, she posted her paintings on Instagram, and when they sold she took the leap and became an artist full-time in 2017. "And I wouldn't change it for anything now," she says. Since Leyva has exhibited around Europe in Stockholm, Barcelona and Ibiza.
In her own words, Leyva's artwork is colourful and positive and carries a certain Mediterranean aesthetic.
